Dr. Akash Jaiswal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, School of Infrastructure, at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar.
He specializes in Hydraulic Engineering, with a focus on sediment dynamics, reservoir sustainability, dam hydraulics, and integrated physical and numerical modeling.
Dr. Jaiswal completed his Ph.D. in Water Resources Development and Management (WRDM) from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. Prior to joining IIT Bhubaneswar, he served as a Research Associate and Postdoc Fellow at the International Center of Excellence for Dams (ICED), IIT Roorkee, where he contributed to advanced research on dam hydraulics, sediment management strategies, and large-scale physical modeling of hydraulic systems.
His research integrates theoretical analysis, laboratory experimentation, and computational modeling to address critical challenges in hydraulic engineering and sediment management. His work aims to develop sustainable and practical solutions for reservoir sedimentation for dam safety and efficient sediment routing. He has experience in developing and utilizing both 2D/3D physical hydraulic models and advanced computational tools for simulating complex flow phenomena.
